Your coffee enthusiast ? Should reduce the intake of coffee if you do not want to be fat .A study revealed that drinking at least five cups of coffee a day can lead to obesity and increased risk of diabetes .
Australian researchers found that excessive consumption of polyphenol substance found in coffee called chlorogenic acid ( CGA ) can prevent fat loss and cause insulin resistance .
The study , published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry , tested the effects of CGA in mice fed different doses of the compound .Mice given doses equivalent to five or six cups of coffee per day showed retention of fat in the cells .
Obese mice also showed glucose intolerance , pre - diabetic conditions , and increased resistance to insulin regulation .
" Research ( previously ) have shown that coffee consumption lowers the risk of developing type 2 diabetes , " said Professor Kevin Croft , of the University of Western Australia" With this in mind , we studied the effects of polyphenols , or more specifically CGAS , which is not only found in coffee but also in tea and some fruits , including plums . CGAS previously known for its health benefits , improve insulin sensitivity and reduce blood pressure and accumulation of body fat , " he said .
" However , this study proves otherwise in a dose equivalent to five or six cups of coffee per day , " said study author Vance Matthews , from the same university , as quoted from dailymail .
