This Tool Can Make Man " Disappeared " from Radar Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes have a unique way to detect the presence of " prospective prey " . They have a radar that is able to smell carbon Dioxide ( CO2 ) emitted through breathing , skin , and sweat . In fact , mosquitoes can smell it from a distance of hundreds of meters .
There are many ways that people use to repel mosquitoes , ranging from the use of mosquito nets to drugs . However, these methods are often considered less effective and potentially toxic .
The researchers are now developing a tool that is more effective and safer to repel mosquitoes . The tool is named Kite Patch , a small square -shaped object that can be attached to clothing .
Kite Patch works in a unique way . This thing is able to disguise the " smell " of CO2 emitted by the human body .
Kite Patch was developed by Grey Frandsen , Michelle Brown and Torrey Tayanaka of Olfactor Laboratories . They inspired creating this tool after reading the research Anandasankar Ray and colleagues from the University of California Riverside , published in Nature in June 2011 . The study revealed three chemicals that can interfere with the radar receiver CO2'nyamuk .
All three of these chemicals work in different ways to repel mosquitoes . The first chemicals mimic carbon dioxide and can be used to keep mosquitoes from human and insect traps .
Two chemicals make mosquitoes can not detect CO2 at all . And the third is precisely alter mosquito radar capabilities that are sensitive to CO2 , thus making the mosquito feel confused .
Frandsen and his team are now raising funds through the website " indiegogo " to conduct field trials in Uganda . If the test is successful , they will start mass- producing Kite Patch and distribute globally starting from the U.S. .

In the world of epidemiology , Kite Patch known as spatial repellent . In a review published in the Malaria Journal , researchers noted if the spatial repellent can be expected to eradicate diseases that are transmitted through intermediaries such animals mosquitoes . Unfortunately spatial repellent yet incorporated into disease control programs because of the lack of multi - lateral epidemiological data that support its success .
Testing is very important to be able to be integrated with continuous monitoring . This includes monitoring how much influence the number of mosquitoes Patch Kite found both inside and outside the room , and how many of these mosquitoes are still biting humans . This amount will of course also affect the number of pathogens that might enter into the human body through the medium of mosquitoes .
