Not only drinking water , you also need the right diet .
Diets were originally designed to lower blood pressure effectively turns also expected to prevent kidney stones .
Thus the results of recent research published in the American Journal of Kidney Diseases March 2014 edition .
The researchers said that based DASH diet ( Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension ) is more practical and less stringent for those who need to monitor what he eats as therapy or prevention of kidney stones .
Diet is usually recommended to prevent or suppress the possibility of the formation of kidney stones " oxalate . "
Keep in mind , most kidney stones are formed when oxalate binds to calcium while the kidneys make urine .
The researchers say that high levels of oxalate are found in many nutritious foods , such as beets , bulgur , kale , almonds , sweet potatoes , bran , and spinach .
" Previous studies have recommended that people with kidney stones need to perform low-oxalate diet to reduce the chances of another rock formation , " said Dr. Kerry Willis , senior vice president for scientific activities at the National Kidney Foundation .
However , he added , many high oxalate foods are healthy foods . So , when someone does a low-oxalate diet , the nutritional intake will be limited . Though the body requires many nutrients .
DASH diet , said Willis , a diet with more balanced nutrition and the results may be easier , as well as more realistic to do in the long run .
Recent research results show that the DASH diet is rich in fruits , vegetables , nuts , low-fat milk and low in animal protein , refined grains and sweets , can help prevent kidney stones .
The study involved 41 people who follow the DASH diet or a low oxalate diet for eight weeks . On average the participants who did the DASH diet reduced the risk of kidney stones by 35 percent . Meanwhile , those who eat a low oxalate diet reduced the risk by 14 percent .
The researchers suggest to incorporate foods rich in calcium and oxalate in the diniliai can be more effective than limiting oxalate to prevent kidney stones .
" When consumed together , oxalate and calcium are more likely to bind in the stomach and intestines before it is processed by the kidneys . With so little chance of kidney stones are formed , "said Willis .
Moving on from these findings , the experts of the National Kidney Foundation offers tips to help prevent the formation of kidney stones as follows :
- Drink plenty of fluids . Ideally , drink at least 2 liters or the equivalent of drinking 8-12 glasses of water every day .
- Although water is the best beverage , water mixed with lemon or lime juice with no added sugar is also a good choice .
